Ovularity was recorded in Jacob's home studio in Montreal through 2008. As with the previous two Werneckes albums, Ovularity blends acoustic instruments such as the acoustic guitar, accordion, melodica and vocals with electronic sounds. Influenced in part by Kafka's The Trial (a few tracks heavily sample the Orson Welles adaptation of the novel), most of the album's songs involve solitary characters reacting to events beyond their control.
